Consumer Reports: Tips to Find the Best Travel Deals

Michele Rouze fa 11 anys 0
Consumer Reports: Tips to find the best travel deals
Need a vacay, like, right now? ShopSmart, the shopping magazine from the publisher of Consumer Reports, suggests these sites that make last-minute travel cheap and easy to book. Each one of them meets ShopSmart’s requirements for contact info disclosure and customer service.
In addition, check out the last-minute travel sections of the Big Three sites (Expedia, Orbitz and Travelocity). And try GetARoom.com (800-468-3578) for super-low unpublished room deals.
AIRBNB.COM
BEST FOR living like a local. Users can rent private rooms in people’s homes or entire homes. With more than half a million listings (including 600 castles) in 34,000 cities, it can save you from a bland hotel -- and save you money. ShopSmart found an entire three-bedroom house in the Riverdale section of New York City, just minutes north of Manhattan, for $150 per night. Safety tip: Opt for hosts with a Verified ID badge; they provide proof of identity.
BOOKING.COM
BEST FOR finding a hotel room. Get the best of both worlds: Search every hotel in a city and book your favorite (you don’t pay until you show up). The Best Price Guarantee means if you see a cheaper price, the site will match it. But discounts such as AAA’s aren’t covered.
GETGOING.COM.
BEST FOR nice surprises. Feeling adventurous? With GetGoing’s Pick Two, Get One program, you enter your preferred travel dates and the experience you want (say, a beach vacation or an outdoor adventure), and the website finds flights to different cities at up to 40 percent off. The site makes the final decision for you. After you enter your credit card info, you find out where you’re going on vacation.
TRAVEFY.COM.
BEST FOR group travel. These tools take the pain out of coordinating a group trip. You can all vote on a location, book flights and accommodations, agree on your itinerary and even split shared costs. Join the rewards program to earn points for everything you do. Points are redeemable for gift cards and more.

Underlined regions do not display for non-word characters

Aparajita fa 11 anys 0
In ST3, if a region is marked with any of the underline styles, the underline does not display for non-word characters (such as white space). By contrast, outlines always display.

It would be nice if there were at least a setting (or a draw flag for use with add_regions) that would allow underines to draw under all characters.

Top Tips for Business Negotiations in SE Asia

bran ahearn fa 11 anys 0
Tip 1: Each SE Asian country is different

South East Asia is a mixture of nations and cultures which have combined under regional block called ASEAN to assist with the development of the region.

These nations are Thailand, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Brunei, Indonesia, Vietnam, Cambodia, Lao and Burma.

Each Nation has unique resources and are at various stages of development.

It is critical to understand each of these nations are different – sometime very different and should be considered individually when developing an export strategy.

Tip 2: Be Prepared to Negotiate

Negotiating is an in built part of Asian culture, and is unavoidable. Be prepared, and seek advice if unsure on how to develop your pricing strategy or do not have knowledge of these many variables.

Negotiating in ASEAN has become an art, and many Australian executives will when asked for their best price, immediately give the bottom price without realising this is only the beginning of the negotiating process and are then left with a lose/lose situation.

Tip 3: Develop a structured pricing structure

When developing export and pricing strategies a company should have a well structured pricing strategy.

Put simply, price list "A" which is what you would really like to achieve, price list "B" what you would consider your domestic wholesale price and therefore acceptable, and pricelist "C" which is your final offer.

Bear in mind that many ASEAN exporters, will expect you to consider quantity discounts, longer than normal payment terms, open account, and 90% of the time exclusivity.

You have to decide whether you are to bank roll your exports at low margins, the costs of using banking instruments (L/C’s), and if prices get to low whether this is a market suitable for you.

Finally one must consider shipping terms, FOB, C&F, ex-works etc., and the impact these pricing terms have on your prices.
One point to your advantage is the term exclusivity, this give you the right to demand minimum orders, minimum yearly sales and contribution to marketing and promotion costs in getting your product to market.

vim mode - n x - remove characters

Jon Hogue fa 11 anys 0

In vim, when I'm in the middle of the line and do something like:

1000x

It deletes all the characters from my current position until the end of the line, then stops deleting characters.

In sublime text, when you do this, it acts much differently. It deletes until the end of the line and keeps on going.

Detect closing brace (like parenthesis).

Socapex 2K fa 12 anys 0

It would be an immense plus if Sublime Text could detect if you are closing a brace, skip adding the brace and position your cursor in the next text block. For example:

{

something(); } <-- The editor should detect that this brace is already closed.

}

<-- The editor should move your cursor here instead of adding a new brace.

HTML tag completion bizarrely gives me </function>

Jesse Ruderman fa 11 anys 0
If I type </ at the bottom of the following document, it tries to close an imaginary "function" element rather than the "html" element.

  • Sublime Text 3 (build 3047) on Mac OS X 10.9.1

<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
<script>
function f() { }
</script>
</head>

Add an API call for determining if tabs are visible

Christopher Roach fa 12 anys 0

I have a new plugin I created for automatically showing/hiding tabs based on the number of views in a window/group. There is a problem with it though, and that's that the user must first initialize a window to get it to work correctly, and by that I mean, they must set a new empty window to hide tabs before opening or closing any files. This is necessary because there is no API call to find out if tabs are currently visible.

Create a gutterBackground key in .tmTheme to change the line number's background just as you can add a gutterForeground key.
