In case anyone is interested I made a package to correct the behavior.  Should be in Sublime Package Control soon, but in the mean time:

Well what I want is more of a one time thing to see the match like TextMate does vs. something that has a delay before it shows up and sticks there forever like that plugin.  Maybe such a tool does already exist though, but I think it should be native in Sublime.
