Lion's press&hold to insert foreign character problem

This feature introduced by OS X Lion isn't working properly. 2 characters are being inserted instead of 1.

I would suggest simply disabling this dialog if at all possible. Having the character picture pop up when using Vintage/VintageEx is really obnoxious. I'm pretty sure I've never had it popup under MacVim, and I'm sure I never have had it pop up in the Terminal / console Vim.

It's useful if you are using sublime as an all around editor.. I know because I needed the feature already a few times
